Coating opportunity in the North

Our client is a leading company in marketing, sales and distribution of specialty chemicals and food / pharma ingredients. With offices and warehouses in 31 countries in Europe, Africa and Australia/Asia, the Group has a turnover of € 925m and employs c800 staff worldwide.

Your main purpose is to manage and develop the UK coatings customer base in the North of England and Ireland.
Primary Objectives:
1. To effectively service the existing UK Coatings accounts and introduce new products as they become available
2. To identify new opportunities / target accounts for the UK Plastics / Polyurethane product portfolio
a. Target of 5 -10 new accounts per quarter
3. To monitor all relevant UK sales to ensure that the correct level of profitability is achieved
4. To ensure that all price increases are implemented on time
5. To work with the Business Managers to identify and secure additional supplier opportunities
6. To introduce ideas as to how the team can operate more efficiently
7. To prepare for quarterly review meetings by customer responsibility
8. To ensure that there is a comprehensive business development pipeline
9. To work with the Marketing manager to ensure that the business Gross Contribution target is surpassed.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
The candidate will ideally :
- Be a graduate (Chemistry)
- Have a good understanding of all the different coatings systems both for decorative and particularly for industrial coatings, and the resins systems and additives needed to formulate such coatings
- Have 2/3 years commercial experience. in the coatings industry, (We would consider a technical candidate looking for their first commercial role if we felt that they had the right personality/approach)
- Be home based visiting customers 3 days per week.
- Be self motivated
- Work well with a team of people
- Possess excellent communication skills with the ability to build professional working relationships with all levels of customers and principals.
